RELEASE TO WELL-BEING
What is Grief?
Grief is a natural response to loss. ‘Loss’ is essentially an ending of something that you loved. Any loss can trigger grief. Grief is our way of coming to terms with a loss. You are grieving because you have loved. That love does not go away when that person or situation is no longer there.
- Nearly everyone experiences grief at some point in their life.
- Everyone will experience grief in a different way
- There is no right or wrong way to grieve
Examples of the causes of Grief
- A bereavement
- Relationship breakdown
- Loss of employment
- Retirement – end of your working life
- Loss of a pet
- Loss of health – the physical body you once knew
- A transition in your life, leaving school, university, your children leaving home.
Grief and Emotions
Grief can trigger several overwhelming emotions. You may be feeling a mixture of emotions from sadness to anger, shock to fear, numbness to relief. It takes great courage and time to face our feelings. Unhealed emotions can also manifest in physical symptoms. You may be suffering from insomnia, nausea, fatigue, and changes to your weight. It is important to RELEASE difficult emotions for our overall well-being.
How does the RELEASE well-being candle help?
RELEASE has been created to support you in your grieving process. The therapeutic benefits of the RELEASE fragrance combined with our unique mindfulness guide provide support to soothe grief to restore your well-being. Therefore, the RELEASE well-being candle provides the ‘Nature and Nurture to soothe grief’.
Light the candle to RELEASE the natural, fresh and aromatic scent and harness the power of the essential oils within it.
How do the essential oils in the RELEASE well-being candle soothe grief?

Jasmine oil can help ease your mind and promote harmony, whilst black pepper provides warmth and comfort. The therapeutic benefits of this fragrance are extremely powerful to soothe grief especially when combined with the RELEASE mindfulness guide. The Well-Being benefits of RELEASING trapped and painful emotions:
- Increases your confidence in dealing with stress.
- Reduces pain and tension.
- It can prevent disease.
- Boosts your energy and vitality.
- Research shows that crying for example helps to rid of stress hormones and toxins in your body (Dr. Judith Orloff)
Nurture yourself through grief:
It is important to show love and compassion towards yourself when you are grieving. Healthy grieving is important for your well-being.
Ways to be kind to yourself include:
- Face and express your feelings. You could talk to someone or write your feelings down.
- Surround yourself with people who care about you.
- Ask people for help and tell people what you need. People often want to help but don’t know what to do.
- Do something that brings you joy. You do not need to feel guilty for being kind to yourself.
- Try to keep daily routines where possible.
- Look after your physical health. Getting enough sleep, eating properly and doing some gentle exercise will help you better cope with the difficult feelings you may be feeling.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs to numb the pain.
- Join a support group.
- Talk to a grief counsellor or therapist.
The Stages of grief
Grief is a journey, it will take time, an understanding of self and the process of healing. The healing process can be helped by gaining a greater understanding of the different stages of grief. There is no set pattern of how people cope with grief. You may experience the stages of grief as explained below:
Kübler-Ross’ Five Stages of Grief are described as:
- Denial: “This can’t be happening to me.”
- Anger: “Why is this happening? Who is to blame?”
- Bargaining: “Make this not happen and in return I will….”
- Depression: “I am too sad to do anything.”
- Acceptance: “I am at peace with what happened.”
It is important to understand that you may transition from one stage to another and back again as your healing journey unfolds. You also don’t have to go through each stage to heal.
The RELEASE Mindfulness Guide can help you learn the skills to recognise how you are feeling on your healing journey.
